Frequently asked questions
Here are the answers we give most often. Don't see your question?
Booking
Popular dates — especially summer Saturdays, December, and Friday evenings year-round — often book 6–12 months out. Weekdays and off-peak dates can often be arranged with 4–8 weeks' notice.
Yes. We offer a 48-hour soft hold while you review the details. After that the date releases unless confirmed.
With a 25% deposit and a signed contract. The balance is due one week before the event.
Pricing
Pricing depends on the occasion, length, and timing. We send a tailored proposal within 24 hours of your inquiry. Base day-rate rentals start at 160,000 ISK.
It depends on the event. Some evening events carry a bar minimum — we discuss this in the proposal.

Yes. We only ask that decor leaves no marks — no nails, no tape directly on walls. Florals, linens, candles (with base), and hanging decor are all welcome.
Catering & bar

Yes. We are in a mixed-use area and we respect noise regulations, but live music and DJs are regular here.
After the event
We handle venue cleanup. You only need to take personal belongings and your own decor when you leave.
We walk through the space with you before and after. Damage beyond normal wear is charged back to the event organizer.
For companies
Kornhlaðan seats up to 85 guests for a full sit-down dinner and holds up to 150 for a standing reception, mixed format, or presentation. Long rectangular tables suit groups of 60–85; for 90–150 we combine a seated zone with high tops and a reception area, or move to a buffet layout with lounge seating. Every configuration is set up and broken down by our team.
For annual parties (árshátíð) between October and February, most companies book four to six months in advance — the peak Friday and Saturday nights fill first. Offsites, product launches, and weekday corporate events can usually be arranged with three to six weeks' notice, depending on availability. The earlier your inquiry, the more flexibility you have with dates. Your booking is confirmed once we receive a signed agreement and deposit.
Yes — full-day exclusive hire is available for offsites, strategy days, product launches, and same-day conference-into-party events. Day and evening rates are priced separately, and combining both gives you a single continuous hold on the room, including setup before and breakdown after your event. This is the right fit when the space needs to evolve with the day — seminar tables at nine, lunch at one, reception at six.
Every corporate booking at Kornhlaðan includes a full PA system (four tops, two subs, stage monitors), a wireless microphone, a projector with HDMI and Bluetooth connectivity, coloured stage lighting, and a disco ball for evening events. A member of our team is on-site throughout to run the technical setup. If you need live-stream recording, additional microphones, or a larger screen, we arrange it through our AV partners.
Catering is arranged through Kornhlaðan as part of the booking — from plated three-course dinners to buffets, canapés, and family-style menus. Drinks and bar service are organised the same way. If your company has a preferred caterer or a specific cultural menu, we're happy to coordinate with an outside partner; our team handles service and logistics either way so the evening runs cleanly.
Yes. Every corporate menu at Kornhlaðan is built with dietary requirements in mind — plant-based, vegetarian, gluten-free, and common allergies are standard options on every dinner. For halal, kosher, or more specific requirements, we work with our partners to source and prepare the right dishes. We ask for a final count of dietary needs two weeks before the event so our kitchen can plan properly.
Kornhlaðan is at Bankastræti 2 in the heart of 101 Reykjavík, a two-minute walk from Lækjartorg and directly on most downtown bus routes. Public parking is available at Vesturgata, Traðarkot, and Kolaport, all within a five-minute walk. For guests arriving by taxi or private car, the venue entrance is on Bankastræti with space to pull up for drop-off.
Corporate bookings at Kornhlaðan typically start at around 30 guests — below that the room can feel sparse for a private event. The upper limit is 85 for seated dinners and 150 for standing receptions or presentations. For smaller company dinners under 30 guests, we're glad to suggest one of our sister spaces or arrange a more intimate layout inside the venue.
Yes — Kornhlaðan is built for branded corporate events. The venue supports on-site signage, printed table collateral, projected logos and keynote slides, branded napkins, custom welcome pieces, and a stage area for launches and announcements. Our team helps place and brief everything on the day, and removes it cleanly after. For larger fabrication (step-and-repeat walls, LED, custom lighting) we coordinate with trusted production partners.
